On the 21st May, held in association with IMEX Frankfurt, Positive Impact will facilitate the first Sustainability Policy Roundtable with the intention that policy recommendations for how the event industry can be sustainable are identified, discussed and created.
‘As global governments annually report on their progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, it makes sense to bring the event industry into this conversation, so we are positioned to tell The Story of the Power of Events and identify policy changes, which would support our ability to achieve the UN SDGs through events’
Positive Impact CEO Fiona Pelham.
6 destinations and their politicians, the chair of the Events Industry Council, the chair of the Joint Meetings Industry Council, United Nations representatives and a representative from the Positive Impact ambassador community will be invited to attend the interactive session.
During the Roundtable, focus points are likely to include how policy changes could support industry to address plastic waste, food waste and human rights (including preventing trafficking). This event also marks the launch of UNWTO affiliate member Positive Impact’s education product for global governments to understand the opportunity to create destinations, which deliver on the opportunity of being a sustainable event destination.
The Events Industry Council and Joint Meeting Industry Council will be invited to sign a pledge to share resources across the global event industry and inspire their members to take action to achieve and report on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, so by spring 2020 the global event industry has a roadmap to achieving the goals.
Click here for the invitation and register. Please note that this invitation is open only to destinations attending with a politician and there is a limit of 6 destination. Therefore, registering does not guarantee attendance and we will confirm their attendance after registration.
