Monthly Interview - Nichapa Yoswee
This month we had the pleasure of interviewing Senior Vice President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Nichapa Yoswee, who spoke to us about collaboration in events, inspiring women and sustainable development in the events industry.
“I think it is important for each party to understand the strengths and weaknesses of one another and acknowledge that and embrace that. Then, we can really try to go around in order to come up with a common goal, despite the differences in terms of maybe beliefs or also the way that we work, because we aim at a higher goal in mind, so we can really let go of our egos. That is the way that we learn and become bigger than ourselves.”
Nichapa’s Top Tips
"What we did was we start by providing information: what are the pros and cons? what are the true benefits they can get if they really practice sustainability in all the events and throughout world processes?"
"Then we thought it was about time to start benchmarking the practices, and therefore we introduced the ISO programme on Energy Management System. With that kind of ISO practices or certifications it requires change from the top down, starting from policy down to the working level."
We provide good financial subsidy for all the organisers who bring sustainability practices into the event. We team up with a carbon neutral organisation in Thailand to come up with a carbon neutral event calculator, and then we subsidise any organisers who apply this carbon neutral practice in their events, no matter what the size is.
